Product Description
Located in the St. Julien appellation of Bordeaux, Chateau Gloria was created by Henri Martin. The 50 hectare vineyard was put together piece by piece over a number of years through the purchase of plots exclusively from Grands Crus classified in 1855. The vineyards are made up of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, with the average age of the vines being 40 years. The grapes are all hand picked during the harvest and vinified in stainless steel vats to produce truly exceptional wines.
Neal Martin- vinous.com (96 points) - 'The 2019 Gloria has a compelling nose: black fruit, crushed rocks, tobacco and very subtle marine scents that are all beautifully combined. Perhaps the most precise and delineated nose among an impressive array of Saint-Julien's this year. The palate is medium-bodied with a lively opening. A touch of soy infuses the black fruit; fine-boned with wonderful sapidity on the finish. Extraordinary length. Serious. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. Drink 2027 - 2060'.
This is Neal Martin's highest score for Château Gloria in any vintage.
